- support the school’s curriculum
- be current
- be accurate, non-biased and of sufficient scope
- be diverse and present different points of view
- meet the interests and reading levels of students in our school
- model positive values and character
- have positive reviews from professional review sources
- be considered for purchase if they are requested by teachers and/or students

Teacher, Student, or Other Community Member Requests
Patrons should fill out the “Suggestion for Purchase” form located at the circulation desk.
The following criteria are used by the librarians in evaluating a request for purchase:

- In general, is it appropriate for an elementary school library?
- Is it free of bias?
- Is the information accurate?
- Is the level of difficulty appropriate for the students we serve?
- Do we already have the book? Do we need additional copies?
