Staff Evaluations
A media assistant is expected to provide both students and staff with help locating media center resources. He or she will also help manage and supervise students in the media center during free times and lessons. The media assistant might also be called on to help with check-in and check-out procedures, shelving materials, entering purchase orders, assisting with processing of new materials, and performing limited clerical duties such as recording data and preparing reports.
The media assistant position falls under "Student Support" for evaluations in FCPS. He or she will be evaluated each year by the media specialist and school administrative team. The assistant's effectiveness will be rated in each of four domains: "Planning and Preparation," "The Environment," "Delivery of Service," and "Professional Responsibilities." Within each domain the assistant will be deemed "distinguished," "emergent," "proficient," or "unsatisfactory" in several subcategories.
