Cataloging and Processing
Most cataloging in FCPS should be done through book jobbers. If an item comes to your library without a record, that item should be brought to the attention of an FCPS appointed cataloger.
Some information about a particular item or copy can be changed on a school level. These types of changes include:

- The item ID (barcode)
- The collection it belongs to (E, FIC, VID, etc.)
- The call number
- The Volume
- The Copy Number
- The Price
- Comments about the Item (including those shown during Check In/ Out)
Getting Books Ready to Shelve
Whenever possible, order pre-processed, shelf-ready materials. Standard processing procedures include:
· Check order against packing slip · Attach any loose barcodes shipped with order to the back upper right hand corner of the book · Attach extra barcode inside the book · Inspect book for damage · Stamp item with property stamp · Crack spine and smooth pages · Report mistakes to vendor · Import records · Report import errors to the appropriate cataloger for correction. · Receive the order in PeopleSoft · Update consideration file |
